Terms of service
Last updated October 20, 2026
These terms apply when you use Billfuse: the website, the dashboard, our emails and the billfuse command-line tool. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
The service
Billfuse reads your AI usage and cost data from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini and OpenRouter, shows it in one place and sends alerts when your spend reaches the budgets you set. It is free during early access. We may change, add or remove features over time.
Early access and future pricing
- Billfuse is free while it's in early access. You don't need a card, and nothing is charged.
- We plan to introduce a paid plan, currently planned at US$9 per month. We'll announce it on this site and by email at least 30 days before it starts, with the price, the start date and the terms that will apply. Accounts created after the announcement get the same start date.
- When it starts, you can subscribe to keep using Billfuse, or stop. Without a subscription, Billfuse stops syncing your providers and sending alerts and summaries, and you can't use the dashboard, connect keys, change budgets, or use the command-line tool or the browser extension. Your saved keys and data stay until you disconnect them or delete your account.
- We may end early access or change what it includes. We'll tell you by email first where we reasonably can.
Alerts are a warning, not a limit
- Billfuse only stops spending if you ask it to. Unless you turn on automatic pausing or click Pause now, budgets only send alerts and nothing is blocked when you pass one.
- Data arrives late. Providers report usage with a delay, often hours and for OpenRouter and Gemini about a day, and we sync on a schedule. An alert can arrive after your spend has already passed the threshold.
- Alerts can fail. Email and Slack messages can be delayed or not delivered.
Keep your providers' own spending limits in place. You are responsible for what you spend with OpenAI, Anthropic and any other provider. We aren't responsible for charges you incur, whether or not an alert was sent.
Pausing spending
If you turn on automatic pausing, or click Pause now, Billfuse changes settings in your provider accounts on your behalf:
- OpenAI: it sets the monthly spend limit of every active project in the connected organization to $0.01, and remembers the limit it replaced. Projects that already have a $0.01 limit are left as they are.
- Anthropic: it turns off every active API key in the connected organization.
- Resume puts back the limits and keys Billfuse changed. Before you resume, you can untick any you want to keep off; Billfuse leaves those off and stops tracking them. Billfuse also leaves alone a project limit you've changed since the pause, and an API key you've deleted or turned back on. You can also undo the changes yourself in your providers' dashboards. Projects and keys created after a pause aren't paused.
- When you turn on automatic pausing, or connect a key while it's on, Billfuse checks that the key is allowed to make these changes. It does this by writing back a setting it has just read, unchanged: an existing project spend limit, or an API key's current status.
- Pausing stops your own apps and agents from calling those providers until you resume, also into the next month. It isn't instant, so spend can go slightly over. OpenRouter and Gemini can't be paused.
- We aren't responsible for interruptions caused by a pause you turned on, or for spend that happens before a pause takes effect or when a pause fails.
Your account
You sign in with GitHub and must keep that account secure. You are responsible for activity under your account, including computers you authorize with the command-line tool. Revoke access you no longer need in Settings.
Your API keys
Only connect keys you are allowed to use. You let us store them encrypted and use them to read your usage and cost data. You can disconnect them at any time.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- try to access another person's account or data;
- probe, overload or disrupt the service, or get around its limits;
- use Billfuse to break the law or your providers' terms;
- resell or redistribute the service.
Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service at risk. We may also end the service. When we can, we'll tell you by email first.
No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including about the accuracy of spend figures, the timing of alerts or uptime.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Billfuse isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for charges from AI providers. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.
Changes to these terms
We'll update the date at the top when these terms change. For significant changes, we'll email everyone with an account before they take effect. If you keep using Billfuse after that, the new terms apply.
